World Dance Day celebrated with films at Rukmini Sabhagriha
World Dance Day saw a grand celebration as the students of
Mahagami
Gurukul, Aurangabad celebrated it with Punaravalokan – Festival of Films on Dance. The two-day film festival featured non-fiction dance films made by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Kumar Shahani, Arun Khopkar alongside a bunch of new films such as Kapila and Vaikhar. The screenings was followed by discussions on form, history, politics, and aspects of dance, its appreciation and making. More than 200 dance enthusiasts visited the festival. The event was inaugurated byPadma Bhushan Adoor Gopalkrishnan
. Along with the screenings, a special performance was given by famous Kathak dancerParwati Dutta
that added glamour to the celebration. There was an Oddissi recital by Parwati Dutta and her Mahagami ensemble too.end of article
