Using dance as their tool of expression and paying respect to their guru, young girls of Mahagami recently participated at the Vayam festival. The two-day music and dance festival saw these girls performing to various Indian classical dances who also have been learning dance from their guru Parwati Dutta for several years. Their main motive of coming together is their love for dance and paying respect to their guru and to take this on a higher note, Mamta Maharaj, daughter of well-known dancer
Birju Maharaj graced the occasion.
Her presence also brought in a mesmerising performance on stage wherein she performed a solo Kathak recital. She began her recital with invocation to Shiva through a Dhrupad ‘Shankar Girijapati’ followed by ‘Taal Dhamar’ after Drupad. The spectators at the auditorium were awestruck with her expressive and flawless moves. Amidst cheers and applause, Mamta Maharaj concluded her dance with traditional composition
Aise Ram hai dukh Haran
to which every dance lover rejoiced to her beautiful dance.
