English day celebrated at Shakespeare Festival in the city

City-based group Parivartan Sanstha organised the 5th

Shakespeare Festival

celebrated English Day ahead of the day wherein they discussed the works of

William Shakespeare

. The event was held at

Govindbhai Shroff

Auditorium. The festival in fourth edition saw a free talk session on ‘Contemporary Indian theatre’ by Ashutosh Poddar. Not just that, a reading of Shakespeare’s selected plays like

Macbeth

,

Hamlet

, Julius Caesar and the Merchant of Venice was also held at the festival.

Renowned theatre director Chandrakanth Kulkarni and theatre artist Prashant Dalvi were part of the free talk session wherein they discussed how the plays have gained laurels over the time. Staging the English play in

Marathi language

has reached more and more Marathi audience and has known the works of Shakespeare.
