Audience of Aurangabad treated with plethora of dances

City-based cultural group Devmudraa – a movement school organised a dance festival Samskriti in the Aurangabad recently. The two-day festival saw its ninth celebration with various dances on both the days.

While the first day was filled with various dance presentation, day two of the festival was also a treasure of performances. The second day of the festival commenced with

Kuchipudi

performance by the disciples of Guru Dr

Rajyalakshmi

Seth from Mumbai. The performance began with Ranga Suddhi – a traditional opening of Indian dance by Sutradhaar portrayed by Guru Dr Rajyalakshmi Seth followed by Ganesh Vandana. This was followed by Sri Krishna Nartanasobha –a thematic presentation on the life and deeds of Lord Krishna.

The main highlight of the evening was the Tarangam recital wherein the dancer held a small pot with water on the head and other dancer stood on the edges of brass plate balancing while dancing to difficult rhythmic patterns. The audience's excitement knew no bound as they recited this.

The event was concluded with Debotar Grash –a solo dance drama by

Bharatanatyam

dancer Vaibhav Arekar that were based on Rabindranath Tagore’s poems choreographed in Bharatanatyam.
