Ankita Kaul: Empowering women through creativity and conversation
In the vibrant world of social media influencers, Ankita Kaul stands out with her heartfelt mission to uplift and support women through meaningful conversations. At 31 years old, Ankita’s journey began with a simple yet profound realisation: women often lose their identities in the roles of wives, mothers, and daughters-in-law. Determined to create a space where women could share their stories and find solace, Ankita launched her Instagram page, which has since grown into a thriving community of over 50,000 women.
From East Africa to Instagram
Before stepping into the digital realm, Ankita’s career took her across East Africa, working as a Sales Manager in Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya, and Cape Town. However, her passion for storytelling and connecting with people led her to explore content creation. "One fine day, I decided to start a social media page discussing things that surround a woman’s life," Ankita recalls. "Women give so much to their families that they often forget their own passions and dreams. I wanted to change that."
Building a Community of Support
Starting out wasn’t easy. Ankita faced numerous challenges, from raising awareness about sensitive topics to creating a safe space for women to open up. "Women face issues like lack of acknowledgement, financial dependence, domestic abuse, and even betrayal from loved ones. Social media became my platform to raise awareness and build a community where women could feel heard and supported," Ankita shares.
Her page quickly evolved into more than just a platform; it became a support system. From daily polls and Q&A sessions to engaging stories, Ankita ensures her content resonates with women from all walks of life. "Every woman has a story, and through this platform, we learn and grow together," she adds.
The Life of an Influencer: Beyond the Glitz and Glam
Contrary to popular belief, Ankita emphasises that life as an influencer is far from glamorous. "It’s a lot of work — from content creation to editing and staying updated with trends. It’s more taxing than a full-time job," she admits. Yet, the creative process fuels her passion. "I love the art of storytelling and creating content that is authentic and relatable."
Her motivation stems from the fear of failure and the constant pursuit of creativity. "Fear pushes me to keep going. Whether it’s my workspace or my wardrobe, I love infusing creativity into everything I do."
Challenges and Triumphs
One of Ankita's proudest collaborations has been with Tribe Veda, a budding brand in skincare and healthcare. "It’s exciting to work with brands that align with my values and resonate with my community," she says.
However, she acknowledges that influencers often remain underpaid. "For the amount of effort each video takes, the compensation rarely matches up. It’s crucial to blend brand content seamlessly into personal narratives, so it feels authentic and not just commercial."
Advice for Aspiring Influencers
For those looking to enter the digital space, Ankita offers sage advice: "Define your niche, understand your target audience, and keep learning from others. Building a community takes time, so focus on honing your creative skills rather than chasing instant results."
As Ankita completes her first year as a social media creator this March, she reflects on the evolving landscape of relationships and personal growth. "Women today are smarter about setting boundaries and voicing their needs in relationships. Love is a journey, and mutual respect is key."
Looking ahead, Ankita aspires to expand her presence onto YouTube, continuing her mission to create content that empowers and inspires women worldwide. "In the end, it’s all about becoming better than yesterday — one story, one post, one woman at a time."
Ankita Kaul is not just an influencer; she is a storyteller, a community builder, and above all, a woman paving the way for others to embrace their true selves.
