Ahmedabad to see a classical feat this May

Music and Bharatanatyam performances on May 1 and 2
Craving for a classical performance in city? Head to Sivanand Ashram, opposite ISRO, near Satellite in Ahmedabad where a ‘Sur, Taal Aney Nritya No Triveni Sangam’ is being organised on May 1.

The event that begins at 7.45 pm is being organized by Nrityabharati

Performing Arts

. A Bharatanatyam performance, ‘Nupur Zankar’, will also be organised at

Tagore Hall

in Paldi on May 2 at 8.45 pm.

One of the performers at this event, Neha Nair, who teaches architecture at a city-based university, said, “I have been learning Bharatanatyam for past four years at the Nritya Bharati Academy of Dance in Paldi along with 11 others. Twelve of us who finished our arangetram last year are moving onto becoming professional performers.”

Elaborating, Neha who has been living in Ahmedabad for past five years, said, “Arangetram means stepping onto the stage – ‘arang’ means stage and ‘etram’ means to step on. Post the six performances on May 2, we will be felicitated with a certificate stating that we are now professional and performing artistes.”

Whatever be the reason, Amdavadis are sure getting a classical delight with the rising number of such performances in the city.
