A fashionable treat in Kolkata!

doweshowbellyad=0; Dipannita (TOI Photo) On Saturday evening, city-based fashion designer Jyoti Khaitan enthralled an elite audience that included celebs like Sanjay Budhia, Minu Budhia, Bickram Ghosh, Jaya Seal Ghosh, Renu Roy, Arindam Sil, Nilanjana Chakraborty amongst others at The Saturday Club.
The show started around 8.30 pm and showcased the designer’s Western and ethnic collections.While the Western line dealt with formal and semi-formal tunics, trench coats, gowns and formal skirt suit to name a few, the second sequence was all about
ethnic and bridal wear. Saris, lehengas, cholis boasting of a lot of embellishments and zardozi work received loads of applause.
And yes, both the designer and her clothes stole the show. But, we got to tell you about those who sported them on the ramp. You’ve guessed it right. We are talking about the models.
The line-up included divas like Noyonika Chatterjee and Vidisha Pavate. Our city-models — Tanusree, Dimpy, Dipannita, Pooja, Madhabilata, Priyanka, too walked tall on the ramp. But, this was not all. The audience was in for a pleasant surprise when actors June, Koneenica, Jaya Seal Ghosh and Minu Budhia graced the ramp.

If ever there was an award for ‘Cheering your wife’, then on Saturday evening, the award should have gone to industrialist Sanjay Budhia and musician Bickram Ghosh. They were both pleased as punch and we think it was Bickram Ghosh who let out a whoopee when Jaya walked the ramp.
Designer-speak
Says Jyoti Khaitan, “I will never design something that I cannot wear myself. The USP of my clothes is that they are wearable and multi-purpose and celebrate the spirit of women.”
