13th premieres on October 1, inspired by Mohit Tyagi’s journey
A new original web series 13th is set to release on 1st October 2025. Inspired by the life and vision of famous educator Mohit Tyagi (MT Sir), the series uncovers India's extremely competitive exam-prep culture. The title "13th" suggests the "drop year" after Class 12, when thousands of students focus on cracking the IIT-JEE entrance examination.
The focal point of the series is the mentor character, Mohit Tyagi (MT Sir), one of India's most celebrated teachers, whose efforts in providing free high-quality Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics tutorials on YouTube have impacted more than 20 lakh students. His channel, which is followed by more than 2.2 million students, offers systematic, deep coaching within the reach of students all over India, from Kota to small towns. Where families spend lakhs per year in Kota, Tyagi provides the same depth of coaching for free, underlining the true worth of access. Over two decades, his consistent approach has produced many Top-100 ranks, proving that the focus is on habit over hype. By making world-class coaching accessible to students from diverse economic and social backgrounds, Tyagi has redefined the term "mentorship" for India's education in a whole new way. Turning down crore-level salaries, he opted to serve students through free education. As opposed to business platforms, Mohit Tyagi created a movement based on discipline, consistency, and long-term student interests.
13th stars Gagan Dev Riar as the mentor, portraying a role grounded in both realism and inspiration. The series captures the rigorous demands of India’s competitive exam system, the emotional and psychological challenges of repeated attempts, and the resilience students show in the face of uncertainty. Beyond academics, it portrays students as individuals with dreams, fears, and financial struggles, navigating immense pressure to succeed. It also reflects the realities of coaching hubs, highlighting family sacrifices, student isolation, and the support systems that can make the difference between despair and hope.
Mr. Mohit Tyagi, B. Tech., IIT Delhi, Director at Competishun, speaking about the premiere of the show, said, "For me, teaching has always been about much more than solving equations or preparing for exams. It's about creating resilience, cultivating discipline, and informing students that they are more than their marks or rankings. From my perspective, in 13th, I see the untold stories of lakhs of youth who have gigantic pressure but still have dreams. The reason why this series is different is that it talks about their struggle in honesty and sympathy. I hope that it provides confidence to students, understanding to parents, and greater respect from society for their path.”
The series aims to present a mirror to the aspirations of India’s youth. By weaving in the essence of Mohit Tyagi’s mission, where education is a tool for empowerment rather than privilege, it aspires to connect deeply with both students and families across the country.
Releasing on 1st October 2025, 13th will be available exclusively online, presenting viewers with a real and inspiring drama. It not only entertains but also starts a conversation regarding pressure, determination, and what success is all about in the academic process, and it can be followed online through the official hashtags for the series, which are #My13thStory and #13th.
