Songwriter Yasmin Mohamed filed the lawsuit in a federal court in New York City on September 18 claiming that 'Starboy' is similar to her 2009 song 'Yooho'.

According to Mohamed-a Somali-American poet, singer, and songwriter, The Weeknd, also known by his real name Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, became familiar with 'Yoohoo' as it was popular with the East African diaspora.

To prove her claims she retweeted a tweet by The Weeknd where the singer wrote about missing his "somalian goons."
