The

Mahindra Blues Festival

in association with The Times of India, had a mind-boggling start on day 1. The two-day-long festival that will see seasoned musicians from the Blues tribe perform for fans, is taking place at the

Mehboob Studio

at Bandra.

The event started with the scintillating performance by a Mumbai based band

Blackstratblues

followed by Grammy nominee

Janiva Magness

and concluding with the return of teenage star

Quin Sullivan

with his band. This is the first homegrown festival to be exported out of India in the heart of Blues - Chicago.

Over the last six years, the Festival in its efforts to nurture the twelve-bar community has been on a quest for newer, younger talent among the country's blues bands via the Mahindra Blues Band Hunt. Now in its seventh year, it's been a long journey for the Blues from Mississippi delta where it was born to Mumbai's shores where it grew roots and achieved cult status.
