Taylor Swift’s fiancé and NFL player Travis Kelce shares what he'll miss most if he retires from football
NFL superstar tight end and Taylor Swift’s fiancé, Travis Kelce, is staring down one of the biggest choices of his career: Does he retire from the NFL after more than ten years of being one of football’s top tight ends? Fans of the NFL star are buzzing about what he’ll do next, and he’s finally shared what really hits him about the idea of stepping away. It’s not the fame or the trophies; what Travis says he’ll miss most are those huge moments on the field. The pressure. The crowd. The way everything’s on the line in the playoffs, and you either rise up or you don’t.
He said, “It's just those moments in the big games. The feeling of having to rise to the occasion, be there for 70,000 [people] that are all counting on you out there, outside of just the guys that you go to war with, the guys you go to battle with. Those moments of rising to the occasion in the heat of the battle, in the playoffs and all the big games out there. That's a feeling that I know I'll never get again.”
Thirteen seasons. Three Super Bowls. He says he’ll never take any of it for granted. “Those are the things that you cherish the most. Especially if you're fortunate enough to be in the playoffs and make runs at it, man, the satisfaction that you get and the successful feeling you get of all the hard work that you put in is finally paying off. I think that'll be one of the things I miss the most.”
As for his future, Travis hasn’t said for sure if he’s coming back for another season. But a decision’s coming soon. Per E! News, he’s been clear that he wants to let the Chiefs know before the draft and free agency, so the team isn’t left hanging. “I want to give the Chiefs a good opportunity, whether I come back or not, or whether they want me back or not,” he said last fall. “I'd like to make that decision before they've got to get draft picks and free agency opens to fill the roster appropriately. All that will be at the end of the season. I won't be thinking about it until then.”
According to E! News, the Chiefs’ GM, Brett Veach, says they’re ready for whatever Travis decides. “Travis is the best. He’s an icon, hopefully he comes back and we’ll just kind of let that process play out.”
If Travis retires, he’s got a strong crew around him: his brother Jason, who just retired from the Eagles, and his fiancée, Taylor Swift. Plus, he’s got the podcast with Jason and wedding plans to keep things interesting. No matter when he finally steps away, Travis knows it won’t be easy. He’s said, “I've been putting my body through the wringer, for the love of it. I do enjoy playing football and the physical aspect of it...I just f--king love that s--t. I think there's a lot of love for the game that's still there, and I don't think I'll ever lose that."
Per Page Six, Swift and Travis Kelce, the NFL star, are reportedly aiming for June 13, 2026, at the ultra-fancy Ocean House in Rhode Island. In case you missed Taylor’s inclination towards the number 13, it’s her birth date and her lucky number. It pops up everywhere in her career, so no shock she’d pick it for her wedding. For the unversed, Taylor and Travis started dating in 2023, got engaged in August 2025, and now they’re set to walk down the aisle together in June this year. Now, although they’re tight-lipped about the details, the fan-buzz is real. As per Fox Sports, they’ve picked a spot near her place in Watch Hill and are deep into planning.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the latest Hindi movies, upcoming Hindi movies in 2026 , and Telugu movies.”
What Travis Kelce will miss the most
On the ‘New Heights’ podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason and recently had Randy Moss on as a guest, Travis got honest about the emotional side of leaving the game. His contract with the Kansas City Chiefs is almost up, and he’s thinking about the next chapter. But it’s the rush of big games and the feeling of having 70,000 people counting on him that’s tough to imagine giving up.He said, “It's just those moments in the big games.
