Singer David Bowie passes away at the age of 69

After an 18-month long battle with cancer, legendary musician, David Bowie, succumbed to cancer today. The news was confirmed via an official statement put out David���s official website and social media. "David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family���s privacy during their time of grief," the statement read.

Bowie's first hit song, 'Space Oddity' in July 1969, reached the top five of the UK Singles Chart and there has been no looking back ever since. Known as the creator of glam rock, the 'Heroes' hitmaker was also known for his continuations to art rock, hard rock, soul, dance pop, punk and electronic through his career that spanned over 40 years. His most recent album, 'Blackstar' was recently released on his birthday on January 8.
