The 40-year-old singer, who split from Moore in January after five years of marriage, has recorded his own take on the pop superstar's '1989' album and found the project incredibly "cathartic," reported Female First.

"It sounds very selfish and it is - I thought about Ryan.

I projected into this universe. And the songs were this spacecraft that took me into this parallel universe.
"It was very cathartic for me, because I found myself singing those songs and feeling things from my divorce. Feeling things from a current relationship, feeling things from the distant past," he said.
