National Library to host its first film festival

The 188-year-old National Library of India will showcase a unique three-day film festival with Tnusree Chakraborty as the face of the event. Here’s the deets

For the first time ever, the National Library of India will be hosting a film festival in August with actress Tnusree Chakraborty as the face of the event. Speaking about Fest5 International Film Festival (F5IFF), Prof Ajay Pratap Singh, director general, National Library of India said, “The festival will see the worlds of literature and cinema coming together to celebrate storytelling in its most dynamic forms.”

A global celebration
Within a month of its announcement, the festival has received submissions from filmmakers based in the US, the UK, Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Bangladesh and India. “The festival, which will be held from August 2 to 4, has already attracted more than 150 film submissions from 39 countries. This year, our focus is dedicated exclusively to heritage, environment, and climate change, making it a unique and impactful event,” Sourav De, director of the festival.
