Pop/Rock: A highly influential band, 'Cheap Trick' has been cited as influenced by artistes like 'Kurt Cobain' to 'Guns N' Roses' as well as 'Kings of Leon' and 'Slipknot'. It is an American rock band that was formed way back in 1973 and has remained active through the years, despite a few line-up changes. A staple on various classic rock stations, some of its best-known songs are Surrender, 'I Want You to Want Me', 'Dream Police' and 'The Flame'. This album brings together a bunch of the members' music while they were signed on by a record label. So, you get four CDs and 41 tracks of their various career highlights. The hits are interspersed with alternate takes to keep things interesting but by and large, the collection of music doesn't seem to have any theme as such. There's nothing too special about the alternate live version of 'Ballad' of 'TV Violence', which is included here. Another song of theirs called 'If You Want My Love' is typical of 1980s pop and indeed the collection does feature a lot of songs from that time period rather than their initial years. Other hits included are 'Hot Love' and 'Don't Be Cruel'. Although not an exhaustive collection of their work, it provides a decent overview of their music.
