Rock n Roll: A brief introduction for those who are unfamiliar with the man whose nickname is 'The Killer' ' he is known as rock's first wild man whose personal life was just as colourful as his music. He makes you want to burn up the dance floor. First off, his singing, given his age, is still jaw-droppingly good. His voice and intonation is assured and can give singers in their 30s and 40s a run for their money. All of the guitar bits are top notch. You have ace guitarist Doyle Bramhall II playing on all the tracks and elsewhere, people like Keith Richards, Ron Wood, The Band's

Robbie Robertson

, Daniel Lanois and Derek Trucks feature, none of whom need an introduction. So, with a lineup like that serving The Killer, you can be pretty sure that every track is going to be something you will never tire of hearing. While Lewis is known for his piano-bashing style (he played with his elbows and used to even stomp on the piano keys, all in tune, of course) the songs don't solely focus on that instrument. Richards, Wood and Waddy Wachtel rock on Lewis' version of Chuck Berry's Little Queenie. Neil Young shares musical duties on Jimmy Reed's Bright Lights, Big City and Robertson along with and Nils Lofren (on pedal steel) take on Johnny Cash's legendary Folsom Prison Blues. Contemporary blues biggies like Derek Trucks and Bramhall helps out on Mississippi Kid and Bramhall can be heard throughout playing rhythm. Make no mistake about this. This rocker still puts the 'S' in swagger.
