The Scorpions’ last album 'Sting In The Tail' was the one they had announced to be their last. But five years down the line, presumably due to the fact that ‘ze Germans’ will not go quietly into the night, so to speak, they have taken a risk and decided to put out another set.
1x1 polls
This album consists of some unfinished material from the 80s, 90s, and even 00s.
This is not to say that the tracks are throwaways but rather the old stuff was a starting point for different navigation. Appropriately, one of the best tracks is the lead-off single We Built This House, which is a thinly-veiled allegory for the band’s longevity, spanning half a century. The lyrical structure shifts perspectives — the verses address their fans/the listener and the choruses have the band’s story as subject matter. House Of Cards is an old tune that they have retooled. It speaks about matters of the heart or more accurately, about hot love turning cold, delivered in balladeer style. All For One encapsulates the band’s ‘musketeers’ type solidarity, despite line-up changes, it is friendship that keeps any animosity away. Rock ‘n’ Roll Band is as up-tempo and adrenaline-driven as their best fast numbers.

While the lyrics might seem a bit trite at times, the pared-down riff courtesy Schenker, is incisive. This, as well as Catch Your Luck And Play are also reworked pieces from the late 80s and has a catchy riff. Truth be told though, if you are a Scorpions fan, don’t hesitate to get this.
