The documentary, '

Echo In The Canyon

', a film based on the

music

scene around Laurel Canyon (is a mountainous neighborhood/canyon located in the Hollywood Hills region of the Santa Monica Mountains), will open the

LA Film Festival

this year on September 20. It will be screened at the Ford Theater. The

documentary

is by Andrew Slater and it includes artistes like the Byrds, The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield and the Mamas & the Papas. When asked about this, the film festival's director, Jeniffer Cochis shared that they are committed to showcasing documentaries, and premiering Slater's work at the Ford Theater, which will be followed by a live musical performance.

Apart from 'Echo In The Canyon', the festival will also premiere films like 'Kate Nash: Underestimate the Girl', 'Good Girls Get High', 'We Have Always Lived In The Castle' and 'Tea With The Dames'. The latter features Hollywood stars like Judi Dench, Eileen Atkins, Joan Plowright and Maggie Smith.

The 9-day LA Film Festival will be held across multiple venues including the ArcLight Cinemas in Culver City, Hollywood and Santa Monica, the new LMU Playa Vista Campus, the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, the Writers Guild Theater and the Ford Theaters.
