On her sophomore album, Ariana Grande jumps on the ‘trendwagon’ by doing what almost every solo female pop/dance mainstream artiste does these days, which translates as ‘get in as many collaborators as you can’. Accordingly, various performers and groups like The Weeknd, A$AP Ferg, Cashmere Cat, Childish Gambino and even Zedd as well as Big Sean speckle the album.

To begin with, the short Intro seems like a needless inclusion, as this is not a concept album where an introduction either gives the listener a taste of what’s to come or is a bit like an overture. Problem is the lead single and justifiably so as it does sound like the album’s strongest and catchiest track. Break Free is another decent pop record. Best Mistake is a ballad about a bittersweet romance. Be My Baby and Bounce Your Heart Right Back is standard fare while Love Me Harder attempts to be sultry. Unfortunately, apart from two or three cuts, this album on the whole isn’t bad for its genre but also doesn’t really have anything truly memorable.
