After actor Ryan Phillippe put rumours of dating Katy Perry to rest, the pop diva has apologised to him for the embarrassing situation.

The 32-year-old songstress took to Twitter to rubbish the claims and said it was nice to meet the 'Catch Hell' actor at Elton John's birthday party last month. "Hi, nice to meet you, sorry about that @RyanPhillippe carry on, lol," tweeted Perry.

Phillippe had refuted reports which claimed that he and the 'Roar'

were in a relationship, by tweeting in all caps, "I AM NOT DATING KATY PERRY. BARELY KNOW HER. PLEASE STOP FLYING HELICOPTERS OVER MY HOUSE. SHE IS NOT HERE."

Perry broke up with actor Orlando Bloom in February after dating him for less than a year.
