Jennifer Lopez and Sean 'Diddy' Combs' complicated love story: Was Kim Porter the reason the former couple never tied the knot?

Jennifer Lopez and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ romance in the late 1990s and early 2000s was in the headlines back then and is today as well. With Diddy’s legal issues, the past of their relationship has been the talk of the town.

Back when they were dating, they both were on the top of their music and acting game. Their appearances on the red carpets always made headlines. It would not be wrong to say that they were the ‘IT’ couple in the 19990s and 2000s. However, the two never took the leap of faith and tied the knot.

There are several theories behind why the former couple never took the next step. One of which involves Sean ‘Diddy’ Comb’s ex Kim Porter.

Kim Porter, who died in 2018, was the mother of Sean’s three children - son Christian, and twin daughters Jessie and D'lila. Reports suggest that Sean despite being in a relationship with Jennifer had an infatuation with Kim. The artist himself confessed the same in an earlier interview. “I got caught up in the hype [But] I was still in love with Kim,” said Diddy.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Kim Porter had an on-again/off-again relationship. Porter also once mentioned that Combs and JLo’s relationship was "not real."

“He just got caught up in the hype. My man is Mr. Hype," Kim said, pointing out that Sean was only attracted to Jennifer’s star status.

Another point that is worth noting is Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ fear of commitment. In 2018, during a conversation with Andy Cohen Diddy confessed he can never get married.

On the other hand, Jennifer also reflected on her relationship with Diddy. In an interview with Vibe magazine in 2003 she mentioned his infidelity the reason behind their broken relationship. “I never caught him, but I just knew. He’d say he was going to a club for a couple of hours and then never come back that night. It was the first time I was with someone who wasn’t faithful. I was in this relationship with Puff where I was totally crying, crazy and going nuts, it really took my whole life in a tailspin," said the ‘Unstoppable’ star.
