Rob Base (real name Robert Ginyard) was born on May 18, 1967, and became a sensation in 1988 after the release of the hit song ‘It Takes Two.’ He met his duo member, DJ E-Z, in the fifth grade while growing up in Harlem, according to People Magazine. After watching their local band Crash Crew, the then-teenagers were inspired to form a duo, prompting Base to buy microphones and his friend to buy turntables and mixers.
