Ending the year on a high, the singer and new dad announced that he will drop something special at 11 AM today. Ed shared a photo of a canvas splattered with paint and captioned it as ‘A Christmas present’.



He also posted a short clip on his Instagram stories that saw him in a jacket, with a guitar in hand, ready to start playing a song. According to reports, the singer is releasing a new song that is rumoured to be titled ‘

The Afterglow

’.

The 29-year-old musician has been away from the spotlight for about a year, after wrapping up his long tour which began in 2017. He announced his decision to take a break from social media “until it is time to come back,” he said.

The singer only broke his social media hiatus to announce the birth of his daughter - Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.


“A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you... Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter - Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here,” he said in a post shared on September 1.

With this track, Ed will join the long list of musicians who got creative during the lockdown and treated fans to a variety of songs. So far, singers including Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, and bands including
