In a video interview with Bobay Times, the DJ-producer had to go through a series of self-admittedly

terrible stage names

before finalising on his current stage name. When asked him the inspiration behind it, this is what he had to say, “So, sadly, there is no inspiration behind the stage name. My actual name is

Kunaal Gurbaxani

. So just remove the last three letters and lo and behold, you have my stage name called

Gurbax

. Though I did go through a lot of embarrassing, really embarrassing names. So while I was starting my career, which I'm not going to get into, luckily, I have the X in my name, which was the saving grace and helped me easily land upon robots.”

“The collaboration with

Beats Antique

is actually really special because I have been a fan of

Bets Antique

for the past 10 years and my introduction to them actually happened in one of their shows. When I was in college, I was attending their show in the front row as a fan without them knowing that there is this kid in the audience who would learn to make music and through some series of events end up meeting them, coming in to the studio and work on a track with them. So it was really special and they are legends to me. I am super grateful that I was able to work with them. They ended up inviting me to their studio during my US tour that I did last year. And I had the sketch ready for ‘Dirty South’ and they loved it and over the next few months, flashing out the entire song and getting the content ready,” he had said in the past about his collaboration with Beats Antique.
