Detroit Ceremony to dedicate street to Michael Jackson cancelled

A ceremony planned to dedicate a street in Detroit to King of Pop Michael Jackson has been cancelled.
In May, it was announced that a stretch of Randolph Street in downtown's theatre district will be renamed to 'Michael Jackson Avenue' and the unveiling will take place on June 15 to kick off Detroit Music Weekend.

However, according to a report, the Jacksons were led to believe that the entire Jackson 5, the family music group which also included the pop legend's brothers Jackie, Tito, Marlon and Jermaine, were to be celebrated with the street naming and not just the King of Pop.
But the city rules prohibits ceremonial street designations for groups or organizations.
Stephen Grady, Council President Brenda Jones' chief of staff, told the newspaper that they are finding a solution and added that they still plans "to do something for the Jackson 5".
"We're still working through the process. The amendment to the ordinance is fairly new, and we're trying to understand what we can do. We still plan to do something for the Jackson 5," Grady said.
Four of Jackson's brothers - Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon -- are scheduled to perform at the festival.
