Talking about how “no one is illegal on stolen land”, her comment has garnered a lot of reactions from netizens. As per recent reports, many had alleged that her LA home sits on top of a tribal ancestral ground. Now, the concerned tribe has issued a statement about the matter, providing clarification.
In a statement given to The Daily Mail, the tribe shared, “As the First People of the greater Los Angeles basin, we do understand that her home is situated in our ancestral land. Eilish has not contacted our tribe directly regarding her property. We do value the instances when Public Figures provide visibility to the true history of this country.”
Further, they emphasized that their aim is not to confront, but to educate and recognize. They added in their statement that they want to enable space for future discussions. They also want people to know and remember that the Los Angeles basin is still Gabrieleno Tongva territory.
She further added, “It’s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now.
