'Asylum' is a four member

Groove Metal

band with Anubhav Rattan (bass), Raghu Raj (drums), Tanay Kasera (guitar) and Vivek Bhatt (vocals) based in Navi Mumbai. When asked about how the

band

was formed, they replied in unison 'by chance'. They believe this is what happens when like-minded people connect over music. College to them was not only about sharing notes, but more importantly, was about sharing massive

music

files. It didn't stop there of course, little did they know that someday they would form a band and jam even post college.
'Anubhav and I studied in the same class and we spoke about music at length and that's when a random thought of forming a band crossed our mind. And it so happened that at the same time Vivek and Tanay were on a hunt, looking for people to form a band. One thing lead to another and a four-piece band conceptualised,' says Raghu.

On their a-ha moment: It was in the formative days when the band used to play at college fests and would perform for small crowds. A few gigs later, they got a chance to perform for over 1,500 people. They couldn't tell if it was nervousness or excitement but it surely was the big moment for Asylum and thereafter, it was only a gratifying road ahead.

On their brand of music: They believe in making music that they can hear on loop. So, their aim is to get people to groove to the music they belt out.

On their musical influences: They draw inspiration from great bands like DevilDriver, Lamb Of God and Gojira. For them, it's not just groove metal music but about also exploring other genres to get the right inspiration to create their playlist.

On their way forward: 'We are working on a few new songs now and religiously jam every weekend. Unlike college, now it becomes difficult to work around a set routine because we have jobs. Music is a great excuse to meet up,' says Anubhav.

On the Band's playlist:
End Of The Line ' 'DevilDriver'
Love ' 'Gojira'
Withering Waves ' 'Black Crown Initiate'
Halo ' 'Machine Head'
Bulls On Parade ' 'Rage Against The Machine'
