X-Men: Days of Future Past is an upcoming 2014 American superhero film, directed by Bryan Singer, it is the seventh film in the X-Men film series and the third X-Men film directed by Singer after 2000's X-Men and 2003's X2.It stars an ensemble cast including Hugh Jackman, JamesMcAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Halle Berry, Anna Paquin ,Jennifer Lawrence, Ellen Page, Peter Dinklage, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Shawn Ashmore, Daniel Cudmore, Nicholas Hoult, Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing, Adan Canto, Evan Peters, Josh Helman, Evan Joingket and Lucas Till. Halle Berry returns with X-Men: Days of Future Past as Ororo Munroe / Storm. She plays a powerful mutant who will lead the X-Men is one their toughest battles ever faced. As a mutant, she has the ability to manipulate the natural elements, she is one of the most battle-tested X-Men. James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier / Professor X: The world's most powerful telepath, Xavier has to lead his X-Men in their greatest battle; both in the present and the past. Hugh Jackman as Wolverine: Anchoring the whole thing is Jackman's Logan, AKA Wolverine. According to Hugh Jackman, this film is Fox's most expensive and ambitious film after Avatar. Among Wolverine's other powers, it's his ability to heal extremely quickly along with enhanced senses and an adamantium-laced skeleton that enables him to withstand the rigours of time travel. "Hugh of the future's consciousness is sent into his younger self [and] Hugh gets to play both parts because [Wolverine] is ageless," said director, Bryan Singer. Jennifer Lawrence as Raven/ Mystique: A mutant with the ability to shape-shift and transform into anyone she wants to, Singer stated that Mystique "is less innocent, evolved, getting closer to where Mystique was in the initial X-Men films." Lawrence added, "We've seen her [Mystique] in the future and what she becomes and this is kind of a turning point for her."

Director Bryan Singer spoke at length with Avatar director James Cameron to discuss the time travel concept used in his film, to make it more acceptable. Cameron has directed time travel films like The Terminator (1984) and Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991). Singer allegedly discussed the concepts of an alternate universe and string theory. The director was also apparently confident about starting his ambitious project once Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen came on board.
