Former ‘One Direction’ star Zayn Malik recently called off his engagement to Perrie Edwards after three years of relationship. What has created more buzz is the fact that he broke the engagement over text when Perrie was partying with her band Little Mix, reported Hollywood.com. Looks like the 22 year old pulled a Russell Brand! According to a report on Thesun.co.uk, Zayn has previously been caught cheating too but that never created such a drastic rift between the two former lovebirds. The couple got engaged in August 2013 breaking the dreams of millions of ‘One Direction’ fans.

While the news of Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards calling off their wedding is doing the rounds, we take a look at some of the most bitter celebrity breakups of the past…

Louis Tomlinson and Eleanor Calder:
Introduced by band-mate Harry Styles, Louis and Eleanor dated for four years before the inevitable split took place this year, reported Dailymail.co.uk. Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton:
Heartthrob couple, Miranda and Blake, took the divorce way to end their four year marriage. Blake Shelton reportedly, filed for divorce, as he believed that the singer cheated on him twice. Apparently, he suspected that his wife was unfaithful and even heard talks of Miranda hooking up with some non country singer guy. Although, a report on Dailymail.co.uk, suggested that Blake was in an urgency to start a family together whereas Miranda still wanted to wait. The duo rarely saw each other and the distance made things worse.

Ariana Grande and Big Sean:
Ariana Grande and Big Sean’s break up was a big surprise as reports claimed that these two had all plans to get hitched. According to a report, the duo first sparked rumours when they were spotted getting close in MTV Video Music Awards. A report also claimed that Ariana’s raunchy stage performance with Justin Bieber was the reason behind the split but the representatives of both, Ariana and Big Sean denied it and said that their break up had nothing to do with Justin Bieber. The 27-year-old rapper and Grande dated only for 8 months and cited busy work schedule and constant touring as the reason for their break-up.

Rihanna and Chris Brown:
The R&B duo, Rihanna and Chris Brown’s dating history is very known to all. Reportedly, when they dated for the first time, Rihanna suffered physical abuse from Chris Brown resulting in the duo splitting. According to a report on Huffingtonpost.com, post the probation charges on Brown for the charges of physically assaulting his then girlfriend, Rihanna, his image failed to regain itself as it grew more sensational. However, the duo dated again putting everything behind them. Patrick Schwarzenegger’s spring break sure ended on a bad note when alleged pictures of him getting intimate with a brunette started making rounds resulting in his breakup with Pop diva, Miley Cyrus. The ‘Lovestory’ hitmaker, Taylor Swift and ‘One Direction’ hottie Harry Styles’ relationship ended in quite a bitter note. The couple looked extremely in love in their initial days but looks like fate had other things planned.
