The 87th Annual Academy Awards: Highlights of the event

Neil Patrick Harris made for an interesting host of the Awards night and held everyone's attention till the end. The actor was also trending on micro-blogging site, Twitter. At one point, during the ceremony, Neil Patrick Harris went completely naked except for his underwear and black socks. When he came on the stage sans clothes, the actor was greeted with a lot of cheer. He introduced the next set of presenters for the awards wearing the bare minimum he had.

Last year it was Ellen DeGeneres who played the perfect host at the Oscars, and this year it was Neil Patrick Harris. Just before the awards, Neil had posted on micro-blogging site Twitter, "It's the day of the show, y'all. #Oscars @TheAcademy." [sic] And while at it, Neil started off the show with an interesting musical and went on to poke fun with quirky lines like, "Today we honor Hollywood's best and whitest. Sorry…brightest," and addressing Reese Witherspoon saying, "you could eat her with a spoon."

A couple of click-worthy moments took place on the lavish red carpet of the 87th Academy Awards. The host for the event, Neil Patrick Harris, came with David Burtka. David was seen adjusting the bow-tie for Neil on the red carpet, which made for a great picture. Apart from this, in what seemed to have been a very spontaneous move, Jennifer Aniston lifted Emma Stone, who held her in a tight hug.

The Oscars was a big night for Hollywood celebrities. The red carpet of the 87th Annual Academy Awards was a glittering affair as celebrities sashayed down the aisle in their best classy avatars. Actor-cum-singer Jennifer Lopez looked stunning in a sparkling golden gown. However, it turns out that there was someone else in a similar outfit. According to a report on Etonline.com, Jennifer Lopez and Robert Duvall's wife, Luciana Duvall, were dressed in different colours of the same Elie Saab gown.

Lady Gaga stole the limelight right from her entry on the red carpet. She was dressed in a white flowing dress with red gloves. Apparently, the white embellishments on her dress took two months of hard work. The celebrated musician recently got engaged to Taylor Kinney, and when she was asked on the red carpet about her wedding plans, Lady Gaga said that she was too busy preparing for her Academy Awards performance to think about the wedding. The newly engaged musician made a solo entry, minus her beau.

When Lady Gaga took the centre stage, she enthralled everyone with her performance. She paid a tribute to the Sound Of Music and was quite mesmerising in her classic avatar. Speaking about her performance earlier, Lady Gaga had said on the red carpet, "I have been rehearsing for this moment. I have really put in my heart into my performance."
