Leonardo DiCaprio finally wins an Oscar!

Everyone was glued to the Television with their fingers crossed as Julianne Moore took to the stage to announce what felt like the most important announcement of the decade, the Best Actor Award. Amidst nervous nail biting and racing hearts, the 'Still Alice' actress went to declare Leonardo DiCaprio as the Best Actor for his role in 'The Revenant'.

Leo took to the stage to collect his coveted, and much deserved Oscar for his excellent portrayal of real-life, legendary frontiersman Hugh Glass in the movie. "To my parents, none of this would have been possible without you," Leonardo DiCaprio said. "To my friends, I love you dearly; you know who you are. And lastly, I just want to say this: Making 'The Revenant' was about man's relationship to the natural world, a world that we collectively felt in 2015 as the hottest year in recorded history. Our production needed to move to the southern tip of this planet, just to be able to find snow. Climate change is real. It is happening right now. ... Let us not take this planet for granted. I do not take tonight for granted. Thank you so very much."

Priyanka Chopra presents at Oscar 2016

Bollywood's very own desi girl was a presenter at the 88th Academy Awards. It was the desi girl's red carpet debut and to say that PC looked ravishing would be an understatement. The 'Quantico' star nailed the red carpet look in a lacy white Zuhair Murad number. Apart from her stunning outfit, the lady was reportedly wearing jewels worth $8 million. According to a report on Daily Mail, PC's selection of jewels included 50 carats diamond front back earrings that cost a whopping $3.2 million. However, it was her Lorraine Schwartz diamonds that really kicked things up a notch, with her dangling earrings totaling a staggering $8 million in cost. PC, along with Liev Schreiber, presented the Oscar to Margaret Sixel for Best Film Editing for 'Mad Max: Fury Road'.

Chris Rock's oh-so-brash racial commentary

Comedian, Chris Rock's Oscar monologue addressed the #OscarSoWhite controversy unabashedly. His much-awaited monologue was funny, edgy and nobody was spared from his jokes on Oscar's lack of diversity. Chris's comment on why African-American's never protesting the lack of black nominees was sadistically funny. "We were too busy being raped and lynched to care about who won Best Cinematographer," Rock said. "When your grandmother's swinging from a tree, it's really hard to care about Best Documentary, Foreign Short," he added. Rock spoke to the heart of the matter, saying, “We want opportunity. We want black actors to get the same opportunities as white actors. That’s it.” He also took a dig at Jada Pinkett-Smith's call to boycott the Oscars. “Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties. I wasn’t invited,” quipped Rock. Ouch! Trust the comedian to hit where it hurts.

Lady Gaga's heart-wrenching performance

This American pop singer and songwriter needs no introduction. The lady is known for powerful vocal chords, and most importantly her bizarre sense of style. Yes, we're talking about none other than the bold and beautiful, Lady Gaga. The 'American Horror Story' star performed 'Til It Happens To You' - from the 'The Hunting Ground,' a documentary about a series of sexual assaults on college campuses in America. Dressed in a white Brandon Maxwell gown, the singer took to the stage, to deliver the most powerful performance of the evening. As if her performance wasn't hard-hitting enough, the singer was joined on stage by dozens of survivors of sexual assault, which made it one of the best moments of the Academy Awards 2016. Her performance concluded with a standing ovation and a thunderous applause from the crowd. Gaga, however, lost the Oscar for Best Original Song to Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes' 'Writing's on the Wall'.

'Mad Max: Fury Road's' big win at the Oscars

George Miller's 'Mad Max: Fury Road' turned out to be the big winner at the Oscars this year. The movie bagged six Oscars at the 88th Academy Awards to net the most trophies for any film of the year. 'Mad Max: Fury Road' won Oscars for Costume Design, Production Design & Set Direction, Makeup & Hairstyling, Film Editing, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing. The movie was lauded for the unusual intensity it exhibited, despite being a popcorn-friendly summertime fare. However, Louis C.K stole the show. While announcing the winner for the Best Documentary Short, Louis extended the suspense by briefly pretending the 2016 ceremony's most prolific winner had somehow sneaked into the night's most obscure category and snatched away the prize: "And the Oscar goes to... Mad Max?" he declared, cracking the audience up.
