Zac Efron hospitalized in Spain after a swimming incident; team shares health updates

While on vacation in Spain, Zac Efron experienced a minor health scare due to a swimming pool incident. The actor was promptly admitted to a hospital but was released shortly after, as he suffered no major injuries. This precautionary hospital visit occurred during his stay at a villa in Ibiza. Efron was in Europe primarily to attend the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris, making a side trip to Spain.

The actor, known for his roles in ‘High School Musical’ and other popular films, faced the incident on the night of August 2. His representative confirmed to People Magazine that the hospitalization was merely precautionary, stating, “He is fine.” The rep further described it as a “minor swimming pool incident” at the villa. Efron was discharged the next morning, assuring fans of his good health.


Before this unfortunate event, Zac was seen enjoying himself on stage with DJ Martin Garrix at the Ushuaïa Ibiza Hotel and Beach Club. A video posted on TikTok by a Garrix fan captured Efron dancing energetically alongside the DJ, much to the delight of the audience. This appearance was part of Efron’s well-deserved break following a hectic year filled with multiple projects.

His recent projects include ‘The Iron Claw,’ ‘Ricky Stanicky,’ and a romantic comedy titled ‘The Family Affair,’ where he stars alongside Nicole Kidman and Joey King. In ‘The Family Affair,’ Efron and Kidman share the screen once again, having last worked together in 2013 on ‘The Paperboy’. The film, originally titled ‘Motherf*****,’ underwent a title change due to its NSFW nature. In a June interview with People, Efron revealed the original title, with Kidman humorously noting, “It was beeped out.” The actor added, “That made the script stay at the top of the pile. It's like, what on Earth could this be about?”

He also expressed his enthusiasm for working with Kidman again, stating, “I jumped. I think we both kind of did. We jumped at it. It was like, this is perfect. What better way to reconnect? And we get to have fun.”
