Will Smith may come to India in 2012
While in 2011, India saw the influx of some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, 2012 promises to be no different. It seems the land of the snake charmers is now luring foreigners with its hypnotizingly hefty paycheques and a market of a billion people.
Not only do we have a stellar line-up of Hollywood biggies who are confirmed to be flying down to India this year, if reports are to be believed, this list ain’t even the tip of the iceberg.

In fact, according to sources, Will Smith will be on a plane to India in the first quarter of the year.
Smith, who reprises the role of Agent J in “Men In Black 3” in 2012, will be coming here to do a round of promotions. The man needs no introduction, but nonetheless we would like to point out that Forbes has consistently included the Academy-award nominated star’s name in it’s “Richest 40” list and his estimated wealth is at a whopping $188 million. The man who has churned out Oscar nominated films year after year, is now coming to India to – we reiterate – promote his film.
Our source tells us, “This isn’t Will’s first trip to India, but from the time of “Eat Pray Love”, Hollywood stars are keen on coming to India. Though Julia Roberts couldn’t make it, Hollywood stars have now become more open to doing interviews here, not just in top European markets. The year 2011, started with the discovery of India as a big market, we’re being more included now.”
For the record, “Men In Black” is one of Smith’s most successful films, the first of which grossed over $587 million worldwide when it released in 1997.The third sequel has big hopes riding on it. We already saw Tom’s heavy promotion for “M:I:4” in India this December, and we are presuming that Will’s impending visit for “MIB” to India is right there on the Hollywood marketing map. In 2006, Will Smith brought his production company, Overbrook, to India and signed a $30 million two-film deal with
Ronnie Screwvala’s UTV. “I really feel there is a marriage to be made between Hollywood and Bollywood,” Smith told a media outlet. He also said that he would like to be called ‘Big W’ like Amitabh Bachchan's nickname Big B. The star, who helped start Sony Pix in India, also made a special appareance on the TV reality show “Indian Idol”.
“It’s been said, ‘Why sell something to 10 people when you can sell it to 10 million people?’ You have to have a global perspective,” Smith had said of his desi ventures. We agree Will, we agree.
