When actors reprise roles so many times that they become the character
Movie franchises usually reprise various lead roles as well as roles of key characters in various iterations of a particular film. The most obvious example is that of Robert Downey Jr, who played Iron Man in the three films as well as in the Avengers movie. His name is now almost synonymous with the comic book character. So is the case with Christian Bale, whose recall value among Batman fans as well as moviegoers, is that of the guy who was in the Dark Knight series.

Past examples include Sean Connery and Roger Moore as 007.
Hugh Jackman as Wolverine Hugh first played the virtually indestructible mutant with the adamantium skeleton in 2000. After that, he has appeared in three X-Men movies, two solo outings and a cameo in X-Men: First Class. The actor reprised the role in X-Men: Days of Future Past as well. While there are rumours that Wolverine 3 would be the last time he plays this character, it is clear that playing this character has also made Jackman a name synonymous with his Wolverine character.

Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man RDJ’s role in the above-mentioned films made him a household name. As far as the Avengers goes, his Tony Stark character was one of the big draws of that film, thanks to his wit and repartee as well as the array of gadgetry and incredible stunts. RDJ’s character will be seen in next year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, and 2016’s Captain America 3.

Leonard Nimoy as Spock Leonard Nimoy played half-Vulcan, half-human First Officer Spock on the Starship Enterprise commanded by Captain Kirk in the original television series, Star Trek. The massive cult popularity his character acquired led him to playing that role in the various Star Trek movies that followed. He also played an older and no less wider Spock in Star Trek — Into Darkness.

Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator
Arnold Schwarzenegger played the time-travelling cyborg three times, after which a reboot of the franchise saw a whole new star cast in Terminator Salvation. The film’s not-so-stellar showing at the BO seems to have prompted studio bosses to get Arnold back in action. The actor will be seen in 2015’s Terminator Genisys.
Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury After Hydra’s attack on S.H.I.E.L.D in Captain America: Winter Soldier, director Fury (Jackson) is presumed dead, but fans of the franchise, who have also been following Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, will know that you don’t stay dead very long in these storylines. And going by the recently released teaser of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Nick Fury is definitely part of the action. It remains to be seen, though, how much longer he will be around, as it had been rumoured that Samuel had a nine-movie deal with the studio and has already appeared in six of its films.
Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Sylvester played real-life boxer Rocky Balboa in not one or two, but six films and is expected to return to the role in a seventh. This one, though, will not exactly be about Rocky. On the contrary, it will have Sylvester playing mentor to Michael B Jordan, who appears as Apollo Creed’s (Carl Weathers) grandson. Apollo was the heavyweight champion, until, of course, Rocky took his crown.

Christopher Reeve as Superman Two actors — Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill — have already tried their hand at playing the Man of Steel, but the impact that the late Christopher Reeve had as the character is undeniable. Christopher played Superman in four films. He had a freak horse-riding accident that left him quadriplegic in 1995 and he died in 2004. But he continues to be best remembered for his role as Superman.
Other actors who have been there done that The Harry Potter franchise cast Sean Connery as James Bond Roger Moore as James Bond Bruce Willis as John McClane (Die Hard series) Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger (A Nightmare on Elm Street series) Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones Desmond Llewelyn as Q (James Bond franchise) Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes Christopher Lee as Dracula
