He says, “I’m the best there is at what I do, and what I do best isn’t very nice. I’m the Wolverine”. Alas, over the two decades, Hugh Jackman has essayed the fictional superhero/mutant so perfectly that the news of him quitting the X-Men
franchise breaks our hearts. Yes, the actor recently announced on an American talk show, “This will be my last one”, referring to the third Wolverine movie which is expected to release in 2017.
Even as he hangs up his wolf suit and adamantium claws, we remember what made this
Marvel hero with super-human senses one of the biggest charmers of all times. Tears and heart ache? He would say, “Yeah, save it”. Did you know? Dougray Scott was originally cast as Wolverine. Hugh Jackman was the second choice for the role.
In the comics, Wolverine is 5'3" tall. But Jackman is 6'2" — almost an entire foot taller than the character.
Jackman holds the record for playing the same comic book character the maximum number of times — seven films as Logan/Wolverine.
His wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, didn’t want him to play Wolverine!
The actor once confessed in an interview that he took “very ice cold showers in the morning” to feel as angry as Logan!
Five things we love about him...The brooding attitude: Because no one else can say, ‘go f@%^ yourself’ to Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr, while sitting in a bar doing nothing!
The anger: We will especially miss the intense fight sequences, like those with Sabretooth — essayed by Liev Schreiber.
The no-nonsense stand: Can you really think of anyone else who can tell Professor X, “Spare me the lecture”?
The rare smiles: They are so rare that if you try to google ‘wolverine’ & ‘smile’, you’ll be severely disappointed. Hence, the charm!
The old-fashioned romance: Don’t you Just melt like a marshmallow watching logan’s scenes with Kayla Silverfox? Sure you do. Every time. Just like us.

Wolverine: I can’t.
Rogue: When they come out... does it hurt? (about his claws)
Wolverine: Every time.

X-Men uniform)
Wolverine: You actually go outside in these things?
Cyclops: Well, what would you prefer, yellow spandex?
William Stryker: Oh, I almost forgot...(showing Logan’s dog tags)
Logan: I want new ones.
Stryker: What do you want them to say?
Logan: Wolverine.
Waitress: Are you drinking to forget?
Logan: No. I’m drinking to remember.
Other actors who quit characters made famous by themJennifer Lawrence as Mystique: In March, the actress confirmed that
X-Men: Apocalypse will be her last film in the franchise.
Christian Bale as Batman: The actor had said he won’t be a part of the
Dark Knight franchise again, unless Christopher Nolan made the fourth film in the series.
Matt Damon as Jason Bourne: The actor walked away from the
Bourne series because he felt there wasn’t anything ‘new’ to add to the story.
Shia LaBeouf as Sam Witwicky: He left the
Transformers franchise as he felt there isn’t “anywhere to take it with Sam” in the sequels.
Keanu Reeves as Jack Traven: One of the major reasons why the
Speed sequel,
Speed 2: Cruise Control, failed was the absence of Reeves. Surprised?
