Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, the Oscar-winning artists, have been shooting for the most-awaited sequel of ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ in the streets of New York City. However, on Monday, July 28, the film set was just 15 minutes away from a Midtown Manhattan skyscraper, where a mass shooting occurred. Fortunately, the cast wrapped up their shoot three hours before the horrific incident.
What happened on Monday in NYC?
A gunman, identified in a press briefing as the 27-year-old Shane Tamura, with a semi-automatic rifle, killed an off-duty police officer and three other people before killing himself. The authorities are currently working on the case to identify the motives and the circumstances that led to the attack at the heart of the city, which is considered a hub for banks and the National Football League, according to The US Mirror.
About the shooter
The team of ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2,’ including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci and more, were on location at 1221 Avenue of the Americas. Mayor Eric Adams revealed that the shooter had a note directing to the degenerative brain disease, chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). “The note said that he felt he had CTE, a known brain injury for those who participated in contact sports. He appeared to have blamed the
NFL for his injury," Adams said to CBS News.
The President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, addressed the situation on Tuesday, calling it a “senseless act of violence" committed by a “lunatic" on his Truth Social handle. According to the police reports, Tamura, a resident of Las Vegas, got out of a double-parked car and opened fire. Continuing the act, he went to the building and killed the people before taking his own life on the 33rd floor.
