Friday morning brought waves of grief for the American actress Aubrey Plaza, as her husband, director Jeff Baena passed away.
Reports suggest that Jeff Baena breathed his last at the age of 47. On Friday, he was found dead in his Los Angeles-area home by his assistant. Without wasting a second, the assistant called for help and the local authorities promptly responded.
The police arrived around 10:30 a.m. and the investigation began. Media reports say that though circumstances surrounding his demise have not been fully disclosed, the police have confirmed that Jeff Baena committed suicide.
Meanwhile, the grieving family has not spoken a word. They are yet to gather themselves in these challenging times. Jeff’s wife Aubrey has also not spoken out on his passing away by suicide. However, on Saturday, her representative told Deadline that “the family is devastated and asks for privacy at this difficult time.”
After dating for a decade, Aubrey Plaza and Jeff Baena got married in 2021 in a private ceremony. The actor from The ‘White Lotus’ announced her marriage to Jeff through an Instagram post in the same year. In the post., she complimented Jeff for his project, ‘Spin Me Round,’ and called him her “darling husband.”
Later during her appearance on The EllenDeGeneres Show Aubrey spoke about her private wedding ceremony. She spilled the beans on how she got married during the COVID-19 pandemic as she “got a little bored one night” during the quarantine.
She confessed that in a moment of spontaneity, the actress said to Baena, “Hey, it’s our 10-year anniversary, we should do something. Get an ice cream cone or do something special” and “joked about getting married.”
She and her husband then secretly tied the knot through 1hourmarriage.com and quickly obtained their marriage licenses. She shared, "We didn’t tell anybody we were doing it.”
