Tom Hanks recently took to social media to reveal that he and his wife Rita Wilson have been diagnosed with
Coronavirus. In a lengthy post, the 63-year-old actor revealed that he and his wife were down with fever during their stay in Australia, where they were all set to shoot his next film 'Elvis' which is based on the life of
Elvis Presley.
He wrote, "Hello, folks.
Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive. Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. While the news shocked cinemagoers from all around the globe, fans have been flooding social media in concern of their favourite star. One of the most prominent figures in entertainment has now become the face of the outbreak.
Talking about the upcoming project 'Elvis', Hanks was all set to essay the role of Colonel Tom Parker, Presley’s manager, who helped the famous singer to stardom in his early days. The film which is being directed by Baz Luhrmann is being backed by Hollywood giant's Warner Bros, who recently released a statement. "The health and safety of our company members is always our top priority, and we are taking precautions to protect everyone who works on our productions around the world," the statement read.
The spokesperson of Warner Bros and recently also revealed to a Hollywood portal that the preproduction on the film has been halted after a team member on the Elvis production had tested positive for coronavirus. Meanwhile, they didn't reveal the cast and crew members, who were working with Hanks during the preproduction stage.
'Elvis' also stars
Austin Butler, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Rufus Sewell and Olivia DeJonge apart from Hanks. Meanwhile, other upcoming projects of Hanks include 'Greyhound', 'Bios' and 'News of the World'.
