The 53-year-old Mission Impossible is also eyeing to star in the film.
Cruise and Liman, who collaborated on the futuristic action movie Edge of Tomorrowand the upcoming drug-runner tale Mena, are looking to collaborate for the third time, reported Entertainment Weekly.

The film will tell the story of a renegade crew of former space workers, who travel to the moon to steal an energy source.

Liman was trying to get the space-heist movie off the ground for several years, first at DreamWorks and then at Paramount, where it is currently set up.
