Tobey Maguire rumoured to be dating 20-year-old model; ex-wife Jennifer Meyer reacts

'Spider-Man' actor Tobey Maguire has been facing the wrath of social media trolls following allegations that he is dating 20-year-old actress and model Lily Chee.

The 49-year-old actor hit the headlines over the 4th of July weekend when he was spotted exiting a party with Chee. Viral photos doing the rounds on social media, saw the star with his arm around the model's waist, prompting speculation of his involvement with the actress.

Shortly after the photos went viral, netizens took to their handles to share their disapproval and slam the actor for dating a woman 19 years his junior. One post, which garnered over thousands of likes, pointed out the age difference between the two, stating, "Spider-Man was released a year BEFORE she was born this is crazy."





In response to the backlash, Tobey's ex-wife, Jennifer Meyer, has seemingly defended the actor. Meyer, who was married to Maguire for nine years before their separation in 2016 and subsequent divorce in 2020, allegedly stepped in to defend her ex. Reacting to an allegation made on an Instagram post, she asserted that Maguire was merely “kindly helping” Chee to her car, according to screenshots shared on Reddit.

She clarified that Maguire was simply "being a good guy" and insisted that he was not omantically involved with the model. She addressed the criticism, stating, "And now he has [been] blasted online for dating someone he is not. But thank you for your rude comment. I hope it made you feel better today. Wishing you love and light."

In a subsequent comment, Meyer reiterated her stance, "I am disengaging after this… But don’t believe everything you read (I’m sure you were taught that somewhere). Tobey is as good of a guy as it gets."

Maguire and Meyer share two children, son Otis, 15, and daughter Ruby, 17. The couple married in 2007 in Kona, Hawaii, and Meyer filed for divorce in October 2020, several years after their separation.


On the professional front, Tobey Maguire is rumoured to be reprising his role as Spider-Man in the upcoming Marvel film Avengers: Secret Wars. The actor, known for playing Peter Parker, is expected to don the Spider-Man suit again, potentially portraying a variant of Tom Holland's character, as seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
