After crushing records with her billion-dollar concert tour, pop superstar Taylor Swift is set to light up the big screen with a documentary about the event that dominated the music scene this summer. "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" will play in cinemas in North America starting Oct. 13, the "Anti-Hero" singer announced on Thursday.
"The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I'm overjoyed to tell you that it'll be coming to the big screen soon," Swift said.
"Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged," she added.
Interestingly, the October 13 release date had already been booked by director Jason Blum, for the release of his horror film 'The Exorcist: Believer'. Back in July, the director shared the posters of his film and revealed that the movie was set for its release in the second week of October.
On hearing of Swift's movie release, Jason tweeted, "#Exorswift" prompting all sorts of fan reactions.
Fans of the horror flick and even Swifties took to the comments section to root for both films and say, "I'm down... Who is going to watch both?"
"Will now have to see both!" said another with a laugh-out-loud emoticon.

However, shortly after starting the 'Exorswift' trend, the director announced a new release date for his film. In a tweet, he wrote, "Look what you made me do. The Exorcist: Believer moves to 10/6/23. #TaylorWins"
Fans quickly flooded the director's handle with notes of appreciation and hilarious reactions that read, "No tayvodoo for you." Many thanked the director for stepping out of a box office clash while predicting that an 'Exorswift' release would have been what 'Barbenheimer' was for the US box office. "You just ruined the next Barbenheimer summer season, it was gonna be an Exorswift fall," wrote a fan.
Another quipped, "The Power of Taylor Compels You!!"
The move by Swift provides movie theatre chains in the USA to help fill gaps caused by the actors and writers strikes in Hollywood. Warner Bros, for example, recently delayed the highly anticipated November release of "Dune: Part Two" until the spring because striking actors will not promote the sci-fi sequel.
Adult tickets for Swift's documentary cost $19.89 each, a nod to Swift's "1989" album, and children's tickets will cost $13.13.
Meanwhile, 'The Exorcist: Believer' had picked October 13, 2023 as a fitting date, as it would have had a Friday the 13th release. The film is set to be the first in a planned trilogy, with 'The Exorcist: Deceiver' set to hit screens on April 18, 2025.
