Taylor Swift to be questioned by Justin Baldoni’s team over It Ends With Us and Blake Lively
Taylor Swift has agreed to be questioned by Justin Baldoni’s legal team about the movie It Ends With Us and Blake Lively, Us Weekly reports exclusively. Court documents filed by Baldoni’s team on Thursday, September 11, show that Swift’s deposition is scheduled for the week of October 20–25. The dates were set to accommodate Swift’s existing professional commitments.
Baldoni’s team stated that 35-year-old Taylor Swift has “agreed to appear” for a deposition but cannot do so before October 20. Her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, is set to release on October 3, and she will likely be busy with promotions around that time.
Us has reached out to reps for Baldoni, Swift and Lively about the development
Baldoni, 41, first subpoenaed Taylor Swift in May as part of a lawsuit filed by Blake Lively, 38, over alleged incidents on the set of their 2024 film It Ends With Us. Lively has accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and of hiring a crisis PR team to tarnish her reputation after she spoke out. Baldoni denied the harassment claims and said it was Lively who tried to smear him with her accusations.
Taylor Swift was first drawn into the case after she appeared in 2025 court documents filed by Baldoni. He claims that Lively used her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and celebrity friends, including Swift, to gain influence over the film.
Taylor Swift’s representative later clarified that her only involvement with the movie was allowing the production to use her song “My Tears Ricochet.”
“Taylor Swift never visited the set of this movie, was not involved in casting or creative decisions, did not score the film, never reviewed or commented on any edits, and only saw It Ends With Us weeks after its public release. She was also touring globally throughout 2023 and 2024, headlining the biggest tour in history,” Swift’s representative said.
The representative added, “Taylor’s only connection to this film was allowing the use of one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet.’ Nineteen other artists also licensed their music for the movie. This subpoena appears aimed at using Taylor Swift’s name to attract tabloid attention rather than focusing on the facts of the case.”
At the time, Blake Lively’s representative said they were “pleased” after Baldoni’s team withdrew the subpoena. “Baldoni’s team has tried to put Taylor Swift, a woman who has inspired tens of millions worldwide, at the center of this case from the very beginning,” Lively’s rep added.
After Baldoni withdrew his original subpoena, it seems his and Swift’s legal teams reached a private agreement regarding the deposition. Swift and Lively had been close friends for years, but their relationship reportedly became “strained” in recent months. A source told Us Weekly in May, “Their friendship is not what it used to be.”
Baldoni and Lively are headed to trial in March 2026.
