Disney has decided to remove an untitled 'Star Wars' film, originally scheduled for December 18, 2026, from its release calendar. In its place, the company has announced the arrival of 'Ice Age 6', which will feature the return of popular characters voiced by Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, and Simon Pegg.

The removed 'Star Wars' movie was rumoured to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and intended to follow Daisy Ridley’s Rey as she rebuilds the Jedi Order after the events of 'The Rise of Skywalker' (2019). However, the project faced setbacks, including the departure of multiple writers such as Steven Knight and Damon Lindelof, causing delays in its development.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy previously described the Rey-focused film as an exciting continuation of the 'Star Wars' saga. Despite this cancellation, fans can look forward to other 'Star Wars' projects. Jon Favreau’s 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' movie is set to release in May 2026, and another untitled 'Star Wars' film remains scheduled for December 17, 2027.

This isn’t the first time Disney has cancelled potential 'Star Wars' projects. Over the years, films planned by director Patty Jenkins, Marvel producer Kevin Feige, and even 'Game of Thrones' creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were announced but never made it to production.

Meanwhile, excitement builds for 'Ice Age 6'. The new instalment marks the return of beloved characters and will continue the adventures of the prehistoric crew.
