The multiverse adventure of ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ has taken an exciting leap forward with the unveiling of its first footage at CinemaCon. Continuing the story from ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’, the film dives straight into chaos as Miles Morales struggles to escape a dangerous alternate reality, raising the stakes higher than ever before.
The glimpse offered by Sony Pictures reveals Miles encountering an alternate version of himself, Miles G. Morales, who has taken on the identity of the villainous Prowler. Voiced by Jharrel Jerome, this version is darker and more menacing. In a tense sequence, Miles is seen tied up and interrogated by his uncle Aaron while the Prowler lurks above, creating a chilling face-off between the two versions.
As Miles tries to explain his urgency to return home and save his father, the confrontation quickly escalates. The scene builds into an action-packed escape as he uses his electric venom powers to break free and take on both Prowler Miles and Uncle Aaron. The footage also teases the return of fan-favourite characters from the earlier films, including Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, Spider-Noir, and Peter B. Parker. New additions and high-stakes chase sequences further raise the excitement, hinting at a massive multiverse showdown.
According to Variety, directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson teased that ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ will serve as the “final chapter of Miles’ story,” promising it to be the most “emotional” and “spectacular” installment yet. The film aims to wrap up the trilogy on a powerful note, resolving the cliffhanger left by ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’.
