Cinefans got a real dose of glamour as the svelte 79-year-old Sophia Loren turned heads at the 67th Cannes Film Festival, outshining women half her age with her enviable curves, style and charis ma. Claiming she was “never beautiful“, Loren was heard saying that she was “still shy“ about appearing in public.

The actress was there to launch her new film, Human Voice -a 25-minute short, directed by her son Edoardo Ponti.

But then, Sophia was no stranger to Cannes. The Italian star had always been a darling of the festival cirtuit since the 1950s. She reminisced how working with Marlon Brando in Charlie Chaplin's The Countess from Hong Kong was difficult because Brando would often arrive late on sets and that he `ballooned in weight' because he ate too much ice cream.
For someone, who defied age with her enthusiasm for life, we salute this screen goddess, who wowed everyone with her mere presence and had been the soul of every party , every festival... over the years.
