The official website for the upcoming television anime adaptation of Satoru Nii's ‘Wind Breaker’ manga has released a teaser promotional video. In this video, we get introduced to the six main characters, and it also announces that the anime is set to premiere in April.
Satoru Nii, the creator of the manga, even drew a special illustration to celebrate the anime announcement.
Kodansha USA Publishing holds the license for the manga and has been releasing it digitally in English since the spring of 2022. They've also started publishing physical copies of the series. Here's a brief description of what the manga is about:
‘Wind Breaker’ is an action-packed manga set in a high school for delinquents, who now play the role of heroes protecting their town. The story follows a new student determined to become the strongest among them, arriving at Furin High School. He's not interested in being a hero or part of a team; he simply wants to fight his way to the top.
The main characters in the series include Haruka Sakura (voiced by Yūma Uchida), Kyоtarо Sugishita (voiced by Kouki Uchiyama), Hayato Suо (voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki), Hajime Umemiya (voiced by Yūichi Nakamura), Toma Hiragi (voiced by Ryōta Suzuki), and Akihiko Nirei (voiced by Shoya Chiba). The animation will be produced by CloverWorks.Satoru Nii's manga ‘Wind Breaker’ first debuted in January 2021 on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket app in Japanese. The 13th compiled book volume was published on August 8.
The manga earned the 9th spot in AnimeJapan's 2022 list of ‘Manga We Want To See Animated,’ indicating its popularity and anticipation for an anime adaptation.
