Saoirse Ronan recalls auditioning for THIS role in 'Harry Potter'

Actress Saoirse Ronan recently shared a fascinating story about her near-miss audition for a role in the iconic 'Harry Potter' film series. The acclaimed star, known for her standout performances in films like 'Lady Bird' and 'Little Women', revealed that, as a young actress, she had her sights set on joining the wizarding world of Hogwarts.

Opening up in a chat with Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Oscar-nominated star recalled her audition and reflected on past roles she wished she had bagged. She said on the show, "There are things you pass on, and then they come out, and you think, 'Oh, God, that was a misstep.'"

Ronan revealed that she had auditioned for the role of Luna Lovegood, which went on to be played by Evanna Lynch. "I had gone up for Luna Lovegood because she was an Irish character, so they brought in a lot of Irish actors, " she explained.


Despite her enthusiasm, she felt she wouldn't get the role because of her age. "I knew I wasn't going to get it because I was too young, but I got to read a scene that was going to be in Harry Potter, and it was the coolest thing ever."

Luna Lovegood appeared for the first time in the film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, released in 2007, when Ronan was only 13 years old.

Meanwhile, on the work front, the actress is rumoured to be the leading lady in Greta Gerwig's upcoming 'Chronicles of Narnia' film. The actress, however, said that while the director has not officially approached her to star in the film, she has made sure to inform Gerwig about her eagerness to join the franchise.
