Get ready for more magic and midnight margaritas!
Sandra Bullock and
Nicole Kidman are in talks to reprise their roles for a sequel to the beloved 1998 film "Practical Magic."
Akiva Goldsman, one of the original writers, will be crafting the screenplay for this new installment. While specific plot details are still under wraps, fans of the original can expect the same enchanting charm that made the first film a cult favorite.
In the 1998 movie, Bullock and Kidman played sisters who came from a long line of witches.
Raised by their quirky aunts in a town that feared and misunderstood them, the sisters had to navigate life under the shadow of a curse that doomed their romantic relationships.
Although "Practical Magic" didn't do well at the box office and received mixed reviews when it first came out, it has since gained a loyal following. Over the years, Bullock and Kidman have become major Hollywood stars, winning awards and achieving significant box office success.
This isn't the first attempt to expand the "Practical Magic" universe. HBO Max previously tried to develop a prequel series called "Rules of Magic," created by Melissa Rosenberg. This series was set in the 1960s and focused on the Owens siblings, Franny, Jet, and Vincent, as they dealt with their unusual powers and the resulting isolation.
Sandra Bullock recently starred in the adventure rom-com "The Lost City," which earned over $100 million domestically. Nicole Kidman has been busy as well, with recent roles in the Amazon series "Expats" and the Paramount series "Lioness," created by Taylor Sheridan of "Yellowstone" fame.
With both stars on board, the "Practical Magic" sequel is shaping up to be an exciting project for fans who have cherished the original film's blend of romance, humor, and witchcraft. Stay tuned for more updates as this magical sequel comes to life.
