Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley passed away on January 12, 2023, at the age of 54.
Lisa started writing the memoir a few years before her unfortunate demise. However, after her untimely demise, it was her daughter Riley Keough who finished the memoir.
In a recent interview with People, Riley Keough expressed that it was painful to listen to the tapes of the memoir interviews her mother recorded.
Further speaking about the memoir Riley Keough stated that as her mother was Elvis Presley’s daughter, she was constantly talked about, argued over, and dissected. She added that both her mother and she hoped to do with the memoir is to go beneath the magazine headline idea of her and reveal the core of who she was.
Riley said that the memoir aims to turn Lisa Marie Presley into a three-dimensional human being: the best mother, a wild child, a fierce friend, an underrated artist, frank, funny, traumatized, joyous, grieving, everything that she was throughout her remarkable life. Through the memoir, Riley Keough wanted to give voice to her mother in a way that eluded her while she was alive.
And that’s how Riley Keough, Lisa Marie’s daughter from her first marriage, to musician Danny Keough became that voice, went through the tapes of her mom talking about Elvis; her romantic relationships; the balm of motherhood; the devastating death of her son Benjamin, Riley’s brother; and the redemptive birth of her granddaughter, Riley’s 2-year-old daughter Tupelo.

I instantly felt like a child again and I burst into tears,” Riley Keough says in the introduction to the memoir.
