Filmmaker Ridley Scott's Catholic Church drama 'The Vatican' has been shelved following the departure of a key behind-the-scenes man. The pilot marked the 'Alien' director's small screen directorial debut, but the TV movie fell apart after the crew was unable to meet deadlines and stay on budget after showrunner Paul Attanasio quit, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

'The Vatican', which starred Kyle Chandler as Cardinal Thomas Duffy, centred on the the inner politics of the modern-day Catholic Church.
